For the LAKE WORTH Centennial Celebration kick-off event in 2014, area residents gathered at at City Hall, Fort Worth on Tuesday, January 7th in support the LWC Committee's acceptance of the Centennial Proclamation read and presented by our own District 7 Councilman, the Honorable Dennis Shingleton. This is the first 'official' event for the special year-long celebration commemorating our City's very own Lake.

The Lake Worth Neighborhoods are celebrating the 100th birthday
of Lake Worth. The Lake Worth Centennial Celebration Committee along
with the City of Fort Worth and Casino Beach Properties, Inc. has
planned many activities in honor of the past, present and future of Lake
Worth.
Everyone
is invited to attend any of the activities. This is another
opportunity to see first-hand how neighborhoods have come together to
organize and implement great events.
June 7:
Join Mayor Betsy Price on a 12.6-mile ride that starts and ends at
Marion Sansom Park, 2501 Roberts Cutoff Road. Registration is at 7 a.m.
and the ride starts at 8 a.m. There is no fee, but registration and a
liability waiver are required. Registration can be done onsite the day
of the event or online at http://www.lmrabicycleclub.com/. Residents not planning to ride are encouraged to wave and cheer for the riders as they pass by. Prime
viewing points: Arrow-S Park, 7951 Cahoba Drive; Mosque Point, 8375
Cahoba Drive; and the Lake Worth Boat and Ski Club, 4001 Marina St.
June 21: Join
the Centennial Boat Parade, led by Mayor Betsy Price. The 100-plus-boat
parade is for power boaters, sail boaters, standup paddle boarders,
kayakers and canoeists. Power boats and sail boats should gather at 9:45
a.m. on the north side of Goat Island, 8928 Malaga Drive. Register
online at http://www.lakeworthcentennial.org/. Paddlers will launch from Marina Park, 4033 Marina Drive, at 11:15 a.m. Paddlers should register at http://www.lakesidepaddle.com/.

- Paddlers
will launch from Marina Park at 11:15 a.m. , paddle to the Willow Island area, wait for the power boats & sail boats to
pass, then fall in behind the
parade for as long as desired.
- Group Leader Brian Severance
is planning various demonstrations and lessons
at Marina Park after the parade from 1 to 4 p.m.
