Neighborhood Annual Meeting, Thursday, October 22 6:00 PM

Join Mayor Betsy Price and District 7 Council member Dennis Shingleton on Wednesday, June 24th at 6:00 p.m. for a Rolling Town Hall!

Grab a bike, helmet and a water bottle and join us as we enjoy a casual ride around Lake Worth in District 7. Hear the latest news, ask questions and see some of the changes to the District. We’re excited to roll through different parts of our city and look forward to hearing your ideas on how we can keep improving! 

Meet us at 6:00p.m. in the parking lot of the Mounted Patrol Equestrian Facility Parking Lot (1901 Las Vegas Trail North) for a casual bike ride under eight miles and return to that point to wrap it up. Lake levels are rising and will likely continue to rise.  If you have small boats or other items around your shore you might pull them to a higher elevation. Please check with neighbors who are away and may need assistance with their items as well.

The flood gates on Eagle Mountain are open.

Eagle Mountain Lake - Current elevation is 649.23 ft-msl (normal conservation pool = 649.10 ft-msl.).  Eagle Mountain is expected to reach approximately 649.22 ft-msl by 6:00 a.m. this morning.  Current models estimate that Eagle Mountain will discharge 3311 cfs at 6:00 a.m. this morning.
Lake Worth – Current elevation is 593.06 ft-msl (normal conservation pool = 594.00 ft-msl.)  Lake Worth is expected to reach approximately 593.72 ft-msl by 6:00 a.m. this morning.
Lake residents are strongly encouraged to monitor lake levels as additional rainfall is in the short-term forecast.  Updates will be posted as they become available.

Just finished talking to Laura Blaylock at TRWD. They have being doing an analysis of predicted rainfall, flow rates from tributaries and discharge rates from Eagle Mtn. Lake.  They are predicting that Lake Worth will crest at 595.25 on Thursday morning.  The spillway elevation is 594.5 so the flow will be going over the spillway.  A 100 year flood event at Lake Worth generates an elevation of 599.  In the past I have been very impressed with the accuracy of their models.  In 2007 their prediction was within 2” of the actual crest at Lake Worth.  I would encourage everyone to move lawn furniture,etc. to higher ground to avoid having it wash away.

Current elevation is 592.1 ft-msl.  Lake Worth will be rising slowly throughout the day and is expected to reach near 592.2 ft-msl by 9:00 p.m. tonight.

Emergency drills at NAS Fort Worth JRB - February 2 thru 13, 2015

NAS Fort Worth JRB will participate in the exercise Solid Curtain-Citadel Shield (SC-CS) 2015.   This annual exercise will be conducted on all Navy installations located in the continental United States Feb. 2 - 13.

This exercise is designed to enhance the training and readiness of Navy security forces to respond to threats to installations and units. The primary focus of SC-CS 15 is to enhance the training and readiness of the Navy's anti-terrorism program and naval security force personnel to respond to real-world threats.

Exercise SC-CS 2015 is not in response to any specific threat, but is a regularly scheduled annual exercise.

The elevation of Force Protection Conditions (FPCONs) and increased security measures can be anticipated on the installation for the duration of the exercise.  While mitigations to alleviate traffic congestion are in place, unit commands are encouraged to communicate the potential for base-access delay with their military and civilian workforce and their families, retirees and visitors.

During the SC-CS 15 exercise, installation personnel and the surrounding local area community may see an increase in travel time coming to and from an installation.  Installation personnel, contractors, visitors and retirees are asked to be flexible with their scheduling of meetings and appointments.  Local area residents may also see increased military activity and possible traffic and pedestrian congestion associated with the exercise.  Dates and times for arriving and departing the installation, established meetings and appointments may need to be rescheduled due to exercise events on or near the installation.  This will help to alleviate base and local community traffic delays caused by exercise play.

In the early afternoon of Monday, Feb 2nd, NAS Fort Worth JRB is scheduled to conduct response training for some of its emergency first responders, such as on-base police and paramedics. During this training exercise, you may hear sirens or see emergency vehicles and responders converging in an area of the base. There's also the likelihood that increased security measures may temporarily affect base access.

It is routine for military installations to execute security and emergency response procedures for possible aircraft accidents, chemical releases, active shooters, terrorist activity, and other incidents and accidents throughout the year.  Our surrounding municipalities' emergency responders often partner with us to expand and enhance the training.

The Navy is committed to keeping the public informed about any likely impacts this exercise may cause. Examples include but are not limited to: increased traffic near bases to include major roads that feed into the base entrance, loud speaker announcements, emergency vehicles with full lights and sirens, and mock drills.

It is our responsibility to ensure the safety of this installation but most importantly, to ensure the safety of our personnel and their families.
